If you are taking our Toronto Salsa classes as a couple, for example, it is very important that you each have the perspectives of both a male and female dance teacher on what you are learning.
If you are single, and enrolled in our Toronto Samba lessons, for example, it is important that you learn to lead or follow a variety of partners so you can become an adaptable and comfortable social dancer.
Meet Our Team
Lisa is the owner/franchisee at Arthur Murray Yorkville and Etobicoke and is the director of the Toronto market and district leader for Arthur Murray International. While she wears a lot of different hats, Lisa has never lost sight of her roots in dance or her passion for watching students develop.
Lisa has been a member of the Arthur Murray VIP club for 10 years in a row and holds numerous awards and honors. To newcomers, she has this to say, “The people you see in the studios have started with absolutely no experience. Everyone at the studio started just like you.”
Teaching, Lisa says, provides an “unbelievable feeling,” especially teaching beginners. “Sometimes people come in and say you must hate to teach beginners. That’s our favorite thing to do.”
Just because you don’t see Tamara on the dance floor doesn’t mean she isn’t a vibrant part of the Arthur Murray experience … I love working here because I believe the positive atmosphere is truly soothing for the soul. It is a very warm & welcoming environment and the instructors & students are always happy.
As part of the Student Relations Team & Administrative Assistant for Arthur Murray, Tamara is one of the very first people to greet new students.Tamara’s message to the new students is; “Everybody, at some point, has had their first dance lesson, but here at Arthur Murray our entire team & students will make you feel like part of the family as soon as you walk through the door!”
Tamara has recently relocated to Toronto from the West Coast and is very excited to have the opportunity to become part of the Arthur Murray Family! Her favorite part of her job is meeting all the wonderful people. Tamara has a background in Management and is finding Arthur Murray a natural fit.”Your experience at Arthur Murray is of the utmost important priority to me”.
A love for dance began for Patricia at an early age when her parents put her in her first Ballet class. She has studied at Arthur Murray and also at Ryerson University where she obtained a B.A in Theater Performance Dance.
As an instructor, it is her greatest achievement to see others develop and gain their own passion for dance. She particularly likes the way Arthur Murray tailors lessons to meet students’ distinct needs. “The beauty of private lessons here at Arthur Murray is that we teach at your own personal speed,” she says.
Patricia says anyone can learn to dance and the rewards are worth the effort. “Dancing is a physical and emotional release, as well as a place to meet new people, make new friends and stimulate your mind and soul.”
Boris is a dance instructor who began in the art at the age of 8. Although he took a brief hiatus to concentrate on pre-professional soccer, he returned to the dance floor at age 17 to begin intense training. He holds a degree in theatre arts from Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton. He also completed the professional training program at the Toronto Dance Theatre’s school of dance.
While Boris has dedicated his life to dance, he says anyone can enjoy the freedom of movement and the beauty of the sport. He says there’s a popular misconception that “dance is impossible to learn if you don’t have a talent or haven’t started at the age of 3.” Arthur Murray instructors, he says, can teach anyone to dance. “Beginner or not, you don’t need to worry. As soon as you walk into the studio, the atmosphere inside – staff, students – will make you forget your everyday worries.”
Dmytro has more than 16 years of experience in Latin and ballroom dance. He first discovered his passion for the art at the age of 6. He went on to study at Fred Astaire dance studios and has won a number of U.S., European and World championships. He is a member of the National Dance Council of America and the International Dance Sport Federation, among other organizations.
As an instructor at Arthur Murray, Dmytro hopes to pass on his passion for the art to others. To new students, he has this to say: “It’s my job to teach you dance, but more importantly than that, it is my job to make sure you have fun and feel comfortable on the dance floor. I will do everything in my power to make sure we are learning at a pace that suits you.”
